Cameroon international Landry N'Guemo joined Celtic in July 2009 to become Tony Mowbray's second signing for the Hoops.
The midfielder initially signed a one-year-loan deal with the Bhoys having an option to make the move from French club AS Nancy permanent. N'Guemo, who had been with Nancy since he was 15-years of age, played 94 games for the club. Mowbrary had been intrested in the player when he was manager of West Brom and the Baggies weren't the only English side linked to N'Guemo. In January 2009 it was rumoured in the English media that Arsenal and Everton were also monitoring his progress.
It was however Celtic who snapped up the highly-rated midfielder on July 16th when Landry linked up once more with ex-Nancy striker
Marc-Antoine Fortune, who had joined the Hoops from the French side a week previously.
Landry made his Celtic debut with an impressive performance in a pre-season friendly at Cardiff City on July 22nd and his competitive debut came a week later at Parkhead when the Hoops lost 1-0 to Dynamo Moscow in a Champions League qualifier. Seven days later he would produce a Man Of The Match performance as the Hoops recorded an excellent 2-0 victory in Moscow to progress to the next qualifying round.
Naturally Landry took time to settle into his new surroundings but by the time he departed for the African Nations Cup in January 2010 he had already established himself as a huge favourite with the Parkhead support. His performances in the middle of the park were becoming increasingly standout. Both energetic and efficent, the Cameroon ace reguarly bossed the midfield. Hard-working and determinded Landry would frequently break up opposition attacks, while his simple but smart distribution meant he rarely wasted a pass.
The Celtic support - while wishing him all the best for the tournament in Angola - are also eagerly awaiting the return of the former Nancy man.
